Andreas Malmberg elected Chairman of APE Europe: a new direction for circular agricultural plastics
A strategic presidency to represent agricultural plastics in future EU regulations
On July 2, 2025, the General Assembly of APE Europe (Agriculture Plastics and Environment Europe) elected Andreas Malmberg, CEO of Trioworld, as the new Chairman of the association. This appointment comes at a decisive moment, as the European Union finalizes its Circular Economy Act and the agricultural sector seeks to strengthen circularity models.
Andreas Malmberg is known for positioning Trioworld as one of Europe’s leaders in circular agricultural plastic films. Under his leadership, Trioworld has integrated up to 70% post-consumer recycled plastic into its products, certified by RecyClass. The group has also invested in closed-loop recycling with dedicated units, such as Reviva Plastics in Sweden and Ombrée d’Anjou in France, and has developed close cooperation with agricultural sectors to implement efficient, locally based collection schemes.
His election has been welcomed by Bernard Le Moine, founding President of APE Europe, who describes Malmberg as an industrial leader with a demanding vision of innovation and circularity. Bernard Le Moine will serve as interim Secretary General during this transition period, pending the appointment of a new Secretary General.
This presidency begins at a strategic moment, as the European regulatory framework on plastics is being revised. APE Europe aims to ensure differentiated consideration of agricultural uses in future regulations and to support the expansion of national collection schemes, drawing on the best practices already implemented in several Member States.
Since its creation in 2012, APE Europe has represented European agricultural plastics producers and promoted a responsible approach based on performance, circularity and traceability. The association actively works with EU institutions, Member States and agricultural stakeholders to build a regulatory framework that is coherent, effective and adapted to real-world agricultural conditions.
Andreas Malmberg’s leadership marks a new chapter for APE Europe, with the ambition of driving the sector’s transition toward an increasingly circular and sustainable model, while defending the specificities of agricultural plastics in the European debate.
